Coastal walks to South Milton Sands, Thurlstone and Bantham. If you're feeling energetic take a 3-4 hour walk to Salcombe along Bolberry Down, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, get a bite to eat in the Winking Prawn, and then get a taxi back if you're tired!
Salcombe 4 miles away. Great sandy beaches and one of the most prestigious sailing centres in the UK. Lovely shops and boutiques. Cobbled lanes, busy restaurants and great for people watching.
Kingsbridge 5 miles away - shops, boutiques, cinema, restaurants.
Water sports: Paddle board, Surfing, Kayak hire (etc) in nearby Kingsbridge or Salcombe
Fishing: You can perch yourself on a nearby rock, or take a boat at Salcombe and go Mackerel fishing.
Golf (Thurlstone or Bigbury).
Beaches: 2 in Hope Cove. South Milton Sands (20 minute walk) - one of the most popular beaches in the South Hams. Sand dunes, rock pools and a vast sandy beach with fabulous views over the bay, including the view of the iconic Thurlstone Rock. Bantham Beach and Bigbury Beach are each side of the river Avon and are popular with surfers.
From Bigbury Beach you can walk during low tide to Burgh Island where the iconic Art Deco Burgh Island Hotel is perched. When the tide is high you can go on the sea tractor which is a fabulous experience.
